Hebrew writings often referred to Feet or Foot when talking about male sex organs. It was just a polite way of discussing them without being vulgar.

Washing the feet traditionally refers to a common oral sexual act performed upon the male anatomy

So Scripture would be proved to be true that the greatest among them would be the least by serving. This also refers to confession. After baptism when we have committed a sin he washes our feet. This is what was meant when Peter said that if he needed to do that then he wanted Jesus to wash his whole body but, Jesus said that the Word he already spoke to him was sufficient and he only needed to wash his feet before he entered the Holy of Holies with Jesus.

It was tradition that a guest have his feet washed when entering the home. Jesus was setting the example of being humble enough to wash the feet of his disciples truly being a servant. Beautiful isn't it?

To show the disciples how they should humble themselves and serve their fellow men--not to claim superiority over those that they bring the gospel to...it is the symbol of how we should present ourselves--servants of God but not slaves to our own wills...
