I'm g etting a little tired of hearing the righteous "holy molies" carrying on about how Halloween is "sinful" and "demonic" and all that dopey line of argument. They've been attacking Harry Potter , and even funny little cartoon characters in the same way. I have only one comment for these people: "Grow UP - and get a life" Halloween is a fun time for us all to enjoy an excuse to dress up and amuse ourselves and one another, with "scarey" masks and funny costumes and enjoy all the trappings of the occasion. I am tired of those "dried out prune-faces" who want to rain on the Halloween Parade , and quit trying to look for Demons hiding in the kids' candy bags. LOL
Husband and I are among the "senior generation" now, so we prefer to stay home and watch the great "Creepy Crawlie" movies on t.v. that are a feature of the Halloween Season, but in our earlier years we thoroughly enjoyed a good Halloween Party, where everybody had the best fun.

This night is to celebrate the last of the harvest, to honor the dead and to bring on the new year. It is called Samhain (pronounced Sow-en)
I, being Pagan, celebrate Samhain but I still love to give out candy to the kiddos.
Tonight after passing out candy to all the little trick or treaters I will join my friends in ritual. We'll cast the circle, raise a little energy, honor our ancestors and then feast. Nothing "evil" as so many on here like to think.

my family is Wiccan and we celebrate by passing out candy, lighting the jack O Lanterns, arranging our samhain altar in the kitchen with things representing this sabbat. We have a bon fire outside and my mom makes white and regular chili. I make desert, This year, I made cookies with little candy spiders on them. The coven girls all get together for a ritual a few days before halloween but on the day itself, its more for the kids and family than anything. If you are interested in ways Wiccans celebrate, go to Yarrowcoven.org or wikipedia search Samhain or halloween. Happy Samhain (pronounced Sow-en) Oh, last friday, my bf and I went to a real witches ball. It was a masquerade. Oh, it was SOOO much fun! oh and I almost forgot the most imporatant part, every year, I set out a slice of pecan pie for my deceased grandmother as she passes through this world. It was her favorite!!

Samhain has a dual meaning for me. Not only is it the beginning of the New Year, but it is also a time when the veil between the worlds is weakest, permitting those on the other side to walk among the living for this night. This is a night to remember the dearly departed (fondly, because they may be right beside you!) with feasts and celebration.
This is the night that we mourn the passing of the God (who will be born again at Yule) and share the pain of loss with the Goddess (now appearing as the crone).
And, because I'm just a big kid at heart, this is my chance to dress up in costume and be someone I'm not for a night.

Hi! Hope you have a wonderful Samhein!
I am making us a Halloween feast and afterwards we will walk it off by dressing up and taking our daughter trick-or-treating.
Later, I am going to have a little circle time for my family to get together and pay our respects to all our friends and loved ones who have passed on. We'll also leave something out for them tonight and light some candles.
Blessed be and I hope you all have a great night!

I am of no religion. I will be celebrating this Halloween by taking out my daughters trick or treating, they grow so fast-I want them to enjoy all the things that go along with being a child, it brings so much happiness to them and it makes me happy seeing them that way. Happy Halloween to all!

As a Wiccan, I see it as our Ritual New Year (though some of us celebrate that on Nov 7th) It's a time to remember those who have died over the past year, to take account of accomplishments and failures, to decide what goals I am going to set for next year.
Happy Samhain

I'm an atheist, but I love Hallowe'en. I see it as a celebration of horror. I went to a costume party on Sunday and also wore my costume to classes today. Tonight I am just going to relax, read some Poe and Lovecraft and maybe rent a scary movie.
