For about 3 years, I had an online relationship. It started out great, but then as time progressed, we just fell apart, (as a result of my now regretable doing) I broke up with him about 4 years ago. He was devestated. I am now married for 2 years, and he just got engaged. We remained friends, but I still had feelings for him, but he chose not to return them.

Despite everything, he still talks to me a lot online, and finds ways to be online at the same time I am, behind his girlfriends back. We haven't talked on the phone in awhile, but IM is our primary form of communication. Does this sound like someone who still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend/first love?

Perhaps it's not love but rather curiosity. I have been a consultant for a dating site for quite sometime and in the process of trying to understand the business, I get to reflect from experience and stories of experiences from families and friends... I came to realize that a relationship whose basis is mere communication without actual interaction is highly compared to drugs... it stimulates the mind and emotions but has nothing to do with love most of the time. Curiosity then becomes a passion of emotions or sexuality. The "what would've been mentality..." works. You're married stop it... You have a family and a husband who needs you and your far more better than your e-exbf. Stop challenging the thought... your husband was there when you needed him...Let go, if you want to be friends then be friends. Stop entertaining those malicious thoughts and be a faithful wife. And you will be blessed and happy....And wish your ex his happiness too...

Yes, it sounds like he still has feelings for you. But the thing is that it sounds like it but it doesn't mean he does. You were his first love and maybe he just wants to make sure that you are happy. It sounds weird but it seems that he will never let go but he wants to stay friends that way if you ever need him, he'll be there. And he does it behind his girlfriends back because he knows that she don't want you guys to talk because she is scared that she might lose him to you. But that is just how some girls are, so don't worry too much about it.

Sounds like neither one of you is a grown up.
Get off the computer and pay attention to your husband. If there was anything real between you and your "online" guy you both would not be involved seriously with other people.

Block him and move on.

Sounds like someone who wants to get some behind his gf's back. He knows you are in a relationship, so you'll keep it quiet, and he is willing to do the same for some @ss.

You are an Internet toy now and will never make the move to real life. Be satisfied with the virtual sex.
