Oh boy. As an atheist I have to say something. Give it a rest!! You know you're right, and by asking questions like this, you further religious people conceptions that we non-believers are all out to hurt them and that we need to counter their beliefs just to reaffirm our doubtful thoughts about evolution. We're right, don't worry about what others think, just take comfort in knowing the truth.

I have a Master's Degree in science from a very well known university and I even sat and paid attention! By His grace I am saved. How many times have you read The Bible???
Because it is hard to believe that you wouldn't feel the presence of Jesus Christ if you just even read the book of John. A good scientist doesn't discredit something or form an opinion on something he hasn't even bothered to research.
My pastor and his wife were both 6 figure income engineers before they got saved. There are plenty of scientists and well educated people who are saved. In fact many people I know have been saved by initially reading The Bible in an attempt to prove it wrong.
Why don't you take the challenge? You can go to harvest.org (one of many places) and get a new believer's bible for free and access down to earth, non-denominational information without hypocrisy. What do you have to lose?
Then come back AFTER you have done your homework and give us your "educated" opinion.

Why are you having this defensive emotions? What are you defending? Your an athiest so be it. Enjoy your life and be merry. You don need to believe anything so why bother. Go kick some a ss and let you a ss be kicked! Fun isn't? Do you think your fellow athiest or anybody care about you and your life? They don't give a damn about you.
But somewhere somehow you know you are loved by someone. You just dont believe but you can't explain why is this happening in your life. The world is vast for you to wonder and explore. So explore and enjoy.
Don't hurt yourself tho coz the world is not a bed of roses. If you do got hurt then blame yourself not others.

That is a great question! I have taken a lot of science courses in college and have a masters degree, but was not until I actually started to study the bible and history when I started to believe in Christ. This prompted me to dig into evolution a little deeper as well and found out evolution contradicts some of the scientific laws I learned in college such as the 2nd law of thermodynamics, so I started to question it. to date, I have not found anything that contradicts that Jesus is God, but I continue to search and learn with an open mind. I hope you study all sides in depth so you can find the truth.

Though I hardly consider myself a religious freak, I have attended many science courses and lectures, as well as conducted numerous hours of research on my own.
Religion has nothing to do with science. Get that through your heads!
Science is a system of acquiring knowledge based on empiricism, experimentation, and methodological naturalism, as well as to the organized body of knowledge humans have gained by such research.
Religion does not rely on hard evidence. Worshippers are often required to take on faith issues such as creationism and the existence of a divine force.
Trying to compare the two is like mixing apples and oranges.

wow, yea. someone is an arrogant snob. Im not religious at ALL and I , in fact think that religion is ridiculous but if it works for someone else, who the hell are you to ask such questions? Is it hurting you that some people have faith in something aside from what is tangible? and, Miss Smarty Panties, its "nonsense" not "nonsence".
dont judge a book by its cover, some girls with pigtails can spell!! Too bad they dont teach you how to be a kind hearted, open minded, non-judgmental person in science class.

All through my life I have had science. Every grade level in school. Even took some college classes back in highschool. I believed all of it for years and years. I never believed we came from apes, but I beleived the earth was millions of years old. After I got saved, I read what Genesis had to say and stopped believing it. Different creation seminars i went to on the way and videos I have seen have confirmed more to me that evolution is not true.
I have seen both sides. I one point for a long period in my life I believed in evolution. I have looked at both sides of the issue. From your response, I doubt you have.

you know what is freaky is that you actually believe the stuff you hear in science without asking real questions for instance they say the suns temperature is 5785 K on the surface, now here is the real question HOW DO THEY KNOW? has someone been able to go to the sun and take the temperature? it is all made up of a hypothesis which is a fancy word for a GUESS...

I received straight A's in biology, chemistry, science, and so on
like I answered in a previous question today
Creation does not come from chaos-a scientist stated this and also stated there has to be a divine power that created us-we are to complex to have just been created by a big bang or evolution

Many scientists (though not the best one's) compartmentalise their belief and are able somehow to believe impossible things. No-one is completely imune from religiousity, its part of being human, some people however well educated will simply believe.
In the same way I find it hard to believe educated people can be bigots, but there you are.
