Question about evolution?

This question is addressed primarily to Christians, but I welcome all constructive thoughts on the matter.
Why can God and evolution not coexist? I realize that the Bible says that God created man, but it also says that he created the heavens and the earth. Do some also question the credibility of astronomers and geologists? Why is it impossible that God used evolution as a tool to create us, as he uses so many various other tools every day? The order of the Biblical creation is even the same as the scientifically proposed natural creation. So my question is, why the disconnect?
Could it be the fact that many atheists attempt to use evolution as a way of disproving the Bible, and therefore Christians feel it necessary to oppose these atheists by refuting any beliefs that the atheists hold? I do not find it difficult to believe in evolution and to be a Christian, so why is it that so many Christians do? Am I missing something?

God vs. Science

God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't need You anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning."

The Bible says God made all things in 6 days. He says that he made plants before he made the sun, moon and the stars. The plants can't live without the sun for more than a few days so these days of creation are most likely six 24 hour days or 144 hours. It may be hard to believe in God, but this is the answer to your question on consciousness.

God formed living things out of the dust (raw materials, minerals, proteins, and carbon) of the earth. All things that are living are alive. Profound statement. Some things that are alive have blood in them. These creatures have a spirit that gives them life. The Bible forbids the eating of blood because life is in The Blood. God created man in His own Image. God has three parts to Him, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. So far we know of the body (the biological shell that houses you) and the spirit (which is the breath of life from God that gives us not only life, but a way to communicate with God. John 4:24). The third part of you is your Soul. This is the consciousness that you ask about. Your soul is your mind, your will, your emotions, your feelings, your memories, your desires, and your thoughts. It is also where your mind (not brain) lies. The mind is the battlefield. It is where the true Enemy of God puts things like fear, unbelief, doubt, pain, jealousy, hatred, lust, murder, anger, depression, and any other major problem. Your soul is what is judged by God. Humans are the only creatures on earth with souls. Animals with blood can only have a spirit.

Time is finite. It had a beginning and will also have an end. God is outside of time. That is how he knows the end from the beginning. It is like time is a parade and as you sit on the curb, you watch it go by. If you were in a helicopter, you could see the beginning, the end, and everything in between. God and evolution can not co-exist because the Bible is clear that it is the word of God. And, it gives a time-line in Genesis that will not allow the millions of years necessary for evolution to happen by chance. Also evolution places death before sin. The Bible places the first sin at about 6200 years ago, and death is the result. Evolution says that dinosaurs (et al) died millions of years ago. This is incompatible. There is no way to reconcile these two events, unless evolutionist are drastically wrong about dates and lots of other stuff.
Either there is no God at all, or the evolutionist are dead wrong.

The point your missing is that Either the bible is the one true word of God or it isn't. You cannot have evolution and Creationism together because God did not say that he created single Celled organisms and then they evolved into more complex organisms. Any Christian who thinks that you can have both does not have true faith in what he believes. If the bible is Divine ....then It cannot have anything false in it. The bible has a clear story on how man came into existance...I think that Christians try to justify what they believe with science because they deep down know that they are wrong...so they pick and choose ways for it all to fit together...but you cannot ever believe one and the other at the same time.

I think it's rather that when the church realised they were going nowhere with their creation stories, they made up this 'compromise' between the two versions. I mean, they know evolution is here to stay, so they are saying now that creation is compatible with it, too. Well it is NOT. Evolution is a fact, and evolution has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the fantasy of a god. A god in the middle is not evolution. But religions would rather tell now a mixed story, rather than the actual full truth, which is the exact opposite of what they have been saying for 2000 years, and are now beginning to change a little.

I am not going to claim to know everything in the universe, but my own belief is that God and evolution cannot coexist for the mere fact that it would invalidate everything religious. The whole belief of God is based on the bible and nothing more really, besides warm fuzzy feelings and coincidences. Simple, the Bible says God created the Earth, then the Sun and the other stars.

Truth is not determined by majority opinion. The fact is that origin of the universe is outside the realm of testable science. There were no observers, unless we believe the Bible. And, if we do, we must be careful not to twist it or add to it in order to accomodate a atheistic theory that is riddled with a lack of evidence. You may be surprised that a recent survey of American scientists found that only 51% believed in Darwinian evolution (Washington Post).

"God" and evolution can be true, both, but the bible can't be true if evolution is. Of course, evolution *is* true and the bible isn't, but this really has no connection to "God". The bible is a book of myths, and "God" remains beyond the understanding of all but a few.
