As its a theory, we may never know for certain (hence the ongoing debate).

However, it sure sounds reasonable and the physical evidence seems to support it.

Mostly true. I've spent many years studying medicine and you learn a thing or too about what Darwin wanted to prove, and what he actually learned. It's a very long answer, so I won't give it here, study it, take the time to explore all the information available surrounding both sides of the subject, you'll be glad you did. Oh and don't just listen to people on here, you need to get out and read real studies and opinions about it.

Why on earth ask strangers on an internet forum who clearly range from zero schooling all the way up to PhD's unless you are doing some sort of an opinion poll. Ask the scientists at the cutting edge of biology who might actually be able to give you a real answer, you know soemone like Dawkins or Maynard Smith.

On this, I have no opinions.

The overwhelming proponderance of evidence is in support of Darwin's overall concept of natural selection driving evolution. Certainly some of his details may have been in error, however, we've had over a hundred years to clean up and polish the theory a bit, cut away some of the chaff, etc.

Where then room for 'opinion'?

no. I think Darwin had an alterior motive. Have you seen the actual title of his book. It's the origin of species by means of natural selection or the preservation of favored races in the struggle for life

Virtually no one today ascribes to Darwins actual theories, there are serveral modifications to them however that seem to work. I however do not ascribe to to any form of macro evolution. Micro evolution (genetic drift) I have no issues with however.
