Should there be one for social security also? Because there might be alot of people in the united states that work under another name, but when they are going to cover the taxes, they dont.

Of course their should be permits. Unfortunately......As I have mentioned many times before. ICE.... INS.... whatever they call themselves these days needs to be completely torn down and edified with specific departments with specific job details... They must be held accountable for their work ethics. You for example as a law abiding citizen (hopefully) do not have racist reasons for reporting someone does not even know who to report them too.... This bureaucratic monster of a department does not serve the Public in its work... nor does it serve its purpose in granting work permits for those who have applied.... what good are they? They have the attitude that I will get to them when I get to them not just to the people who they are supposed to serve .... But to the USA citizen who in essence supplies them with that paycheck that they do not earn..... Heads up...... Rebuild this monster of a department while building this wall across the border.

Guest Workers should be given a special card allowing them to work for a specific person or company and the length of time stipulated on the document. At the end of the term, the worker should return to his/her home country or point of entry to reapply for another period or for a different job. The employer should be held responsible for seeing to the return as well. For social security and taxes, the employer should be held to report and deduct for all legal deductions.

A person who can not get a SS number can get a international taxpayer number..it does not allow them to work..but does allow them to pay taxes!
That's how we pay our US taxes now, through the ITN number, hopefully when they get around to verifying my husbands request for citizenship, this will not be overlooked!
He works under his real name, is self employed, as a large company, or University can not hire him due to his immigration status.
I think whats sad, is we do contribute to society, pay taxes here and abroad, donate time and money to charities..and yet are dumped into the same category as a common criminal.

There are work visas but the farms and slaughterhouses that need quick, cheap labor rarely pay enough or are willing to wait for the workers to go through the governments work visa bureaucracy.
