Are these chemicals harmful?
Can these chemicals still be present even after cleaning the pot? Or should I just throw away the pot.

Just throw the pot away. How can you be sure to get all the chemicals out by washing?

The wax wouldn't be toxic, but what type of scent used could be. I wouldn't throw the pot away just clean it well. From now on, just use it for candles.
