hey i'm a junior and i already hated school,(from like 6th grade and up) but for some reason this year i've just been wanting to drop out. I have no idea why. I get C's & D's but i just cant bring myself to just go through it like last year. I dont know why but i'm considering dropping out. And i already know its a bad idea but i barely go to school anyway and i think it'll be easier if i just go get my GED. But i heard that some employers frown upon it instead of a high school diploma. Any way i'm asking you (any of you) if you think its a good idea to drop out and get my GED then maybe get trained in a feild early.Or just stay in school and be depressed. All comments are welcome. Thanks for helping me with my probelm!

oh come on...You are in the greatest country in the world. You are lucky you get to go to school and learn. Why would you worry about what other kids say? think about it..you get your education, excel and go to college...you won't be sorry. Your college degree will be worth it. and trust me..you will get paid better with a College degree and peopl even will respect you.

So please don't drop out...you can do it...you think you feel this way now? how are you going to deal with your future if you don't get a HS diploma?

I was in charge of hiring for a mid-range company in the Midwest and I can tell you that even for entry level positions, I skipped over most of the GED applicants and went for those who had stuck with it an completed High School. It said a lot about their level of commitment to responsibility. Stick it out. You only have a year and a half to go. I hated school more than anything from 4th grade on, but I graduated on time with the rest of my friends and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Just do enough to get that diploma and then you never have to go back! I have not set foot in my High School since May of 2000 and I couldn't be happier!

You're already a junior. You might as well work hard to get your high school diploma instead of having to take the GED. You're almost there anyway. Besides, you only have two years left of high school, and then you'll have High School Diploma on your resume instead of High School Drop Out.

:) Just keep up the work. Work harder to study. If you really put your mind to it, you can get better grades and you'll feel good about it.

I hope this helps.

GED is not the equivalent of a high school diploma. When employers see GED, they see someone who couldn't commit or finish a project, or wanted the easy way out.

If you plan on working fast food or retail all your life, go ahead and drop out. No one will care then because they are only looking for warm bodies. If you want to actually be able to support yourself and maybe help your family, you need a HS diploma and higher education... otherwise, you will be making minimum wage for the rest of your life. And that sucks.

My son was in the exact same position except he didn't get the grades you do. I offered him 2 choices, Adult school where he went to school from 8:30 till 11:45, five days per week or get his diploma on line. He tried the adult school and didn't like the gang bangers that went there. He then opted for on line which was offered thru his school district. This he completed and even had a graduation ceremony at his old school. People automatically think your a loser if you have a GED vs and actual diploma, don't ask me why. I think you sound bright enough to make a wise choice. Best of luck!

My friend dropped out. She got her GED and did fine. I almost dropped out, but stayed in. Talk to your counselor at school and see if maybe you can go to an alternative high school (many are at your local community college). A degree definitely looks better than a GED. Good luck.

NO please stick it through you have made it this far it would a shame to see you do it now and yes employers do frown upon it because they see that you "quit" on you education and feel that you will quit on them to! plus my friend is in the process of getting her GED and said that the testes are much harder then they were in school!
Good luck i hope you make the right decision:)

First of all, It's a VERY BAD IDEA to DROP OUT SCHOOL! Please don't be ungrateful. Other children don't have good education and they don't know much what you know now! Please be thankful of what you are given now. I know it may seem to hard for you at first, but if you quit now, think of what your future will be! Maybe your job wouldn't be the job that you wanted because you didn't have that much education in the past. If you stay in school you'll learn new things, meet friends, etc. My advice, please try not to be that depressed, cause' it'll make you even more sad.
