Don't give up. Have all the fresh vegies you want your son to eat available. Put them on his tray and let him choose what he wishes. When it comes to healthy food, you have every right to push the feeding agenda. Chicken nuggets are ok as long as they are not the processed kind (what junk do they put in those things anyway?). I've found that Costco (or similar) has breaded chicken tenders. Solid meat.

I have the same probably kind of. My child's dad eats only organic foods. I on the other hand was brought up on McDonald's and others like it. I was totally against the whole healthy foods at 2 yrs old thing. Until finally I started trying more healthy foods. There are some good foods out there. You can't really force your child or her as a matter of fact to eat just healthy foods. It's ok sometimes to eat regular foods. Let him eat chicken but not the fries make it fruit or veggies. That way your both satisfied with what your child's eatting.

Some nuggets are full of junk and others are real chicken so my advice is as a compromise you should select a brand that is actually healthy and tastes good at the same time. Read the ingredients and if you can't pronounce them, don't buy the product. Kids are getting so fat now because parents are lazy and feed them whatever is easiest to throw on the table even if it's full of preservatives, artificial colors, hydrogenated oils, etc, etc. You're the child's parent too, so don't give up. Your child will thank you when they grow up healthy and not the fat kid in class!!!

It's not as though chicken nuggets are toxic. True, they are a bit high in fat, but babies need a full spectrum of raw materials to grow a healthy body. They are also an excellent source of protein and the kid apparently likes them. Of course, I'm not suggesting that you feed the kid only on processed foods. It's always good to provide healthy alternatives for snacks such as orange slices and apple juice rather than potato chips and soda pop.
Bottom line: You can put all the tofu and broccoli you want in front of the kid. That doesn't mean that (s)he will develop a taste for it.

Wow that is a tough one. You two have to find a way to talk about this stuff, you share the responsibility of raising a child. She may be getting defensive because she is thinking you are criticizing her child rearing.
My son was such a picky eater that he only ate one or two things and now at 14 has such a limited diet because he never experienced other foods.
Your son's mom may be starting a pattern that will be very difficult to change later. I wish my son would eat other things back then I was willing to let him try whatever he would eat but he simply would not try things.
Is it expense. Eating healthy can be expensive and chicken nuggets are cheap. Not that he shouldn't be able to have them ever but if he will eat a variety it will only serve him down the road.

Chicken nuggets are fine as long as they are not bought from McDonald's or other fast food places; they contain more sodium than adult needs all day, just think about what it would do to a two year old.
Make them yourself, if he really likes them make allot, I mean allot and freeze some and this way you will have them for later and you know what they are made of and with.
It will be healthier for him in the long run. Statically kids today are far over weight and it is because of them eat nothing but fast food and premade food.

Maybe you can compromise with chicken strips. Since chicken nuggets are just mystery chicken meat pressed into a nugget shape you can't guarantee what's in them. Chicken strips, on the other hand, are not pressed meat. They are slices of meat off of the chicken. You will still have the breading but at least it won't be pressed mystery chicken meat. Even if it is from a fast food restaurant most of their menus are now offering strips along with nuggets. Hope this helps.

Maybe you could give your mom some non-breaded pieces of chicken (aren't they sold frozen, like the kind restaurants put on top of salads)? She could zap them in the microwave or even broil them, and give those to your son instead. As long as they are the right size for him to put in his mouth it should be okay. It's not the chicken that's bad, it's the breading, oil, and mysterious additives. As I am sure you well know. Chicken nuggets and all other fried fatty food is very bad for kids (and adults)! And offer him a variety of foods, as others have advised.

kids love chicken nuggets! My kids do as well, I by the meatless kind made by Quorn, they taste just as good if not better than the meat kind and my kids don;t even notice a difference, and i have one of the pickiest eaters ever born, I swear. Try that or if you are super duper concerned about it and you don;t want to go the meatless way buy some organic chicken breasts make your own breading out of whole wheat bread crumbs and bake your own in the oven, freeze them in a bag and voila, healthier chicken nuggets made by daddy.
