i like this guy and he flirts with me but i think he is tryign to get in my moms good graces why?

Because a lot of guys know, that if they get in "good" with Mom, then Mom will go to bat for them and harass you until you think that this guy is a good "catch"...
If you dont like him, tell him to buzz off, and not to come around. If you do like him, then let everything take its course and get to know him better...
Mom will be a good judge of his character anyways, probably better than you will be, because she put up with your Father all those years and will know a "scoundrel" if she spots him a mile away...
Remember, your mommys little girl and she wont let you get steered wrong...

He either likes your mom (it happens!) or he's trying to get her to like him so she will encourage you to get involved with him. This can be important! I got on my mother-in-law's bad side early on and we've never gotten along...
