I am looking to find out information on how many people including men women children both Iraqi and foreign nationals, both civilian, Military and insurgents and non official fighters of all races, have died, due to things attributable to either the first gulf war, and the sanctions imposed on the country since, and the deaths incurred since the start of the second war to date. I really mean all excessive deaths btw (ie things in no way attributable to the troubles in the country are not counted, so natural deaths, but worth keeping in mind that deaths otherwise preventable by everyday drugs which are not available, are counted as excess deaths)
so any ideas as to which records would be public record, or what "official records" may be avauilable, or any good works done by any reputable sources, which deal with estimating such things...

I don't think there are accurate figures, but the estimate is that 1 - 1.5 million innocent civilians died in the 1990's and up until the 2003 war as a direct result from sanctions.

After the 1991 war with Iraq, it was clear that Saddam had failed his nation. The Iraqi people were supposed to be protected & Saddam contained by UN action.

The Solution was to block all medical aid and food supplies to the Iraqi people. At the same time the UN were doing secret oil deals with Saddam.

Saddam became $20M richer, the Iraqi people died in their thousands.

Since 2003, the war has killed up to 655,000 Iraqi's

So that's 2 million innocent deaths from western policy on Iraq. That's 10% of the nation's population.

Imagine 30 million Americans being killed or 6 million Brits.

Very sad.

Do you mean since the "1st Gulf War"? It is hard to say.. the govt never announced an official end to the "1st Gulf War"... Military troops have been there since 1990.... Khobar Towers in 1996 was a big one.... a lot went on from 1993-1993 that did not make headlines...However, the trops were ther carrying out military combat operations and enforcing sanction against Iraq.

no one will ever be able to give an accurate amount because there is no one taking the daily tally Even if the Brits or yanks knew they would not dare release the correct figure Every thing is deniable if no one has the figures

I'm unsure but would say double, treble, quadruple official figures especially those pertaining to Iraqi civilians.

Best wishes.
