Force has many different units depending on the industry, country, and size of the force. The most used units would be Newtons (SI) and pounds-force (English).

There are two ways that 'pressing force' might be interpreted. Or rather the term 'force' might be used to really mean pressure.

Pressure is merely Force / Area, but is more useful a quantity than just the force since for example if you are trying to deform metal, the total amount of force required depends on the size of the piece you are trying to deform.

Common units of force are: pounds (lbf) - US and Newton (SI)

common units of pressure are pounds per square inch (psi) and Pascals (Pa) which = 1 N / m^2

All the above units are often modified for bigger values for example ksi = 1000 psi, Mpa = 1000000 Pa

In pressing, the force is usually stated in lbs or even tons, or else in force per unit area (PSI).
