I don't like taking medication if I can avoid it and would like to try to find some ways to get rid of headaches - preferably stuff that I can use/do in an office without looking too wierd.

Accupressure sometimes works. On the fleshy area of your hand between the thumb and index finger, gradually apply pressure with the tip of your other thumb, sustaining it as the pressure intensifies. Hold it there for several seconds, then very slowly release the pressure. Repeat a few minutes later or whenever needed.

If eyestrain is contributing to your headache, be sure to relax your eyes by focusing on faraway objects at least 3-4 times an hour.

Be sure your facial muscles as well as your neck and shoulder muscles are as relaxed as possible. Stretch your arms and shoulders, rotate your neck, and concentrate on relaxed facial muscles, especially around the mouth and eyes.

(Hope you feel better!)

Something is causing the headaches....discover the cause and the answer is there. Eliminate coffee and cigarettes. No chocolates. Things which can cause headaches in your diet are gluten...off bread...herbal teas...certain drugs...allergies, hypertension, etc. If these are frequent and occur roughly the same time, then consider dehydration...so drink water...no colas or caffeinated drinks...also this suggested hypertension...or perhaps a kidney problem. Eliminate diet items one at a time, if the result is the same, add them back and remove something else. Deep pressure on the web between thumb and forefinger will relieve many headaches. A cold towel over the forehead will cause the blood vessels to contract and reduce or remove the pain...soaking both hands in hot water will do the same...heat expands superficial vessels and drains blood from the head. But try the food elimination as I suspect some common food is at the root of the problem.

If you don't want to take anything at all then soaking a face cloth in cool water and laying it on your forehead helps. You can buy those rub on sticks from pharmacies which rub onto your temples to help headaches. You can turn off the lights and stay in a dark quiet room and drink loads of room temperature water, it should pass soon. Massage the temples slowly.

Last time I read the directions on the medicine, it said, "Take two tablets and keep away from children" If you don't want to take two tablets, then just do the second part, keep away from children. That alone should reduce your headache.

Here's an old trick I learned from a physical therapist: Squeeze the area inbetween you're index finger and thumb until it almost starts to hurt and hold it there. You will feel the pain go away within a matter of seconds!

I have seen these peppermint roll on things at the health food stores and vitamin stores that you roll onto your temples and massage until it absorbs. I haven't tried it yet, but I have heard that it works. I wouldn't be worried about what "looks weird" in an office. It looks pretty bad to have a facial expression that indicates that you're in pain.

Hi, This is what I do, and it works for me:
1- Using your hands pressure your temples for a short time.
2- Open your hand, see the skin between your thumb and pointing finger? well pressure that area firmly and you will see how the pain will soon go away.
I really hope this works for you- Because it does for me.
Take Care.
