their first week or so they may not have access, just like Basic training. They have to earn the priviledges of phones and email access.

Call the army locator or if the trainee was writing you from basic, he/she should be contacting you with a change of address card

They are given the adress when they get there,and they are allowed to use phones and the such..
Well i was.. but I was awesome and since my AIT was so long, i got to drive my own car, drink,smoke,and do whatever i wanted to.
But more than likely they just haven't been able to contact you, or if this person isn't a close friend. call the parents.
