I am 25 years old, and I was adopted at 18 days old. Does anyone know of a website or somewhere I could go to get information on my medical background, etc.?? I don't even know where to start! I know what hospital I was born in, and what county and state I was born in, and that's about it. Thank you!

Hey misskris1...,

Try the first site for adoption records. Then when you get the records, try the other site for your birth parents birth records. The rest is searching for them, or their ancestors. County and state is good information. Do your adoptive parents know any more? Probably not. This should help.

Adoptions done 25 years ago were fairly private. I agree that you should speak to your adoptive parents and see what they know. All current adoptions include a complete medical history which is given to the adoptive parents. If your parents have no history, check with the adoption agency, then the hospital. If your birth mother signed a "no contact" order, you may not be able to go further than that. Good luck to you.

See I dont think the hospital may be able to do that. Your records may be sealed. its going to be a little more involved than that. You may be able to go to your state web site... and see.. What are your adoptive parents saying... Do they know if the records are sealed? You may be able to request your records but may need a lawyer. In some states the adoption records are sealed. some are not. It depends. Many adoptees need this information really bad. You can call a lawyer for free and consult with them. There are www.cyndislist.com that has an adoption section .. this may also help you . But I would do a free lawyer consult to know where you need to go and what you need to do . good luck

Adoption laws vary by state. Kansas is one of the few (if only) in which an adoptee can request their original birth certificate. I'd suggest you start your search at the state level in which you were born. Contact the vital statistics department and see what your rights are as an adoptee.

I would say contact the hospital you were born in. They would have some medical info. on you. As far as a website, not that I know of, probably because of confidentiality issues. Good luck.

The only website you would be able to get to is the website of the hospital you were born in. Good Luck!
