STEAK AND POTATO SALAD

This is a superb salad! Be sure to allow an extra 30 to 60 minutes for the marinating time

1/3 cup salsa
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon firmly packed light brown sugar
1 clove garlic, crushed
500g Scotch fillet, trimmed and quartered
500g small new potatoes, halved and sliced abut 5mm thick , but not peeled
2 large red and/or yellow or green peppers, cored, deseeded and cut into thin strips
2 tablespoons olive oil

Combine the salsa, vinegar, Worcestire sauce, sugar and garlic in a self-sealing plastic food-storage bag.
Add the steak, push out all the air, and seal the bag.
Let the meat marinate at room temperature for 30 to 60 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a deep frying pan of boiling water, cook the potatoes and peppers, uncovered, until just tender.
Drain them well, place in a large bowl, and set aside.
Heat the oil in the frying pan over moderate heat for 1 minute.
Lift the meat from the marinade, add to the pan, and saute for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, add the steak marinade to the pan, bring to a boil, and cook stirring for 1 minute.
Spoon over the potato mixture, tossing well to mix.
Slice the steak at an angle across the grain about 5 mm thick.
Arrange it on a large, deep platter, surround with the potato mixture, and spoon any juices over.
Serve warm or at room temperature

I only eat rib steak. I fry it in a small amount of oil. I watch it until the bottom half of the steak looks like it's browning upwards. Then I flip it and wait about the same amount of time for the other side. My steak usually turns out medium rare. You have to adjust the cooking time based on how thick the steak is.

A great way to cook steak is in an iron skillet. Put in some butter and worcestershire sauce, have heat up high and put in steak, cook on one side for a couple minutes, then turn. It is easy and gives the steak a great flavor. Good luck.

pierce your steak with a fork for marinading . salt pepper, cover it in virgin olive oil, rub all over to cover meat,. then sprinkle with Hidden Valley Original Ranch Salad dressing & seasoning mix (powdered) turn meat over repeat process ,cook at 350 in oven broiler, or lower heat depending on oven stlye. or on a grill. Just make sure to slow cook. It's a sure hit with any meat. Makes it very juicy , flavorfull, and tender. Yum ( if cooking on foil don't pierce foil untill almost done. cook in juices to keep from drying out the meat.)

season with salt and pepper and cook under the broiler turning once in about 4 to 5 minutes and cook until it feels like the flesh on your cheek when you press on the steak....if you are using a broiler pan you can deglaze it with a little wine and have some aujus....the pan i mean...the juices drain into the pan from the top broiler pan....

BBQ - season lightly. Don't ruin a good piece of meat by drowning it in sauces.

If you don't like BBQ, marinate a couple of hours before cooking and bake at 350... try one of these.....

tritip - marinate in a teriyaki and garlic mixture

London broil - rub all over with mustard

On the grill....
With a little butter, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
The amount of time depends on the size of the fire and
how you like your steak. It'll melt in your mouth
