I get a spurious thud on the right side of a 1995 Taurus SHO 4 door 3.? liter. I push down on the trunk and do not get excess bouncing, so shocks appear o.k.
Is there anything about FWD cars, that could cause this spurious noise? Where can I find all the outstanding TSB's for this model?

Thanx,

Dick

sounds like there is a bushing or bearing that is worn out. if you are not mechanically inclinded take it to a mechanic and have them show you what is making the nosie and how much to fix it, as it will not get better on it's own. sounds like the shocks are just fine but something is worn out and you need to get under and look and get it sorted. might be something simple but don't leave it to become something bad

if the noise comes from the rear it could be a wheel bearing or as simple as the muffler hitting the bottom of the car..I've had both problems.Grab the tailpipe and shake it hard and try to reproduce te noise. It could still be the shock because the car puts a lot more force on it than you could ever put on it. If the noise comes from the front check the ball joint, tie rod end and brake caliper, sometimes they get loose and make some god awful noises

I would check to see if you are leaking any oil from the shock to determine if it is bad or not. And make sure the coil spring over the shock is in good shape. Maybe CV joints should be looked at also.

First check your sway bar end links, when they break you will get the noise also possibly motor mounts.
