the 240 and 300 are the same external size and I think they put a 240 in a car in 65 , but they were big truck motors . Ford put the 200 / 250 cid motors in the cars . I could be wrong on a rarity on this one , but I know it was not common if at all .

Please tell me the make , model , and year of the car .

How old is the motor? I know the new 5.4 ltr's are equal to a 330cid, and the 5.0ltr Mustangs are like a 302cid. but your saying a 6 banger. Not many motors that are 6's and above 260cid's. 1967 Ford put a straight line 6 in the pick up, the F250. It may have been a 300, Cant remember. And the 4.9ltr is a 300, But I still thought it was a V8.

Perhaps you mean the 3.0 liter ford used in earlier Taurus. They called it the 3.0 SHO engine. Supposed to be in the more sportier model Taurus.
