I'm an American living in London and I'm looking for Cool Whip or a Cool Whip-type product. Anyone know if I can find Cool Whip here (my local Tesco doesn't seem to have it), or what is an easy-to-find substitute for it?

How do I describe Cool Whip? Hmm, it's kind of like whipped cream, but thicker and sweeter. If you freeze it, it's almost like a really cheap tasting ice cream. It comes in a plastic tub and you put it on top of pie. I'm going to use it in a jell-o salad recipe, so I need the volume and the sweetness.

If you tell us what cool whip is we can help you. Just by the name though it sounds like Angel Delight - best flavour is butterscotch. It's a poweder stuff you mix with milk to make a creamy desert type thing.

Update: Hmm seems like you are after something like dream topping - comes in a packet or a tin or a carton - made by Birds - same people who make custard.

There is something you can get that is very similar to cool whip. If you go to a supermarket and look in the refrigerated section, where the cream is, you will find it. I can't remember the name, I call it "skooshie cream".

Please don't confuse it with Miracle Whip, otherwise known as the greasy flatulence paste.
