Ez 38 tells who they are. My study Bible explains it more. Once Israel becomes strong, a confederacy of nations from the north would attack, led by Gog. Their purpose would be to destroy God's people. Gog's allies came from the mountainous area southeast of the Black Sea and southwest of the Caspian Sea, as well as from the area that is present-day Iran, Ethiopia, Libya, and possibly the Soviet Union. Gog could be a person, but from the context Gog could also be a symbol of all the evil in the world. Whether symbolic or literal, he represents the aggregate military might of all the forces opposed to God. Rev 20. Gog and Magog symbolize all the forces of evil who band together to battle God. Noah's son, Japheth, had a son named Magog Gen. 10:2. Ezekiel presents Gog as a leader of forces against Israel Ezekiel 38 & 39. God bless you as you search for the truth.

First start at Ezekiel 38 and 39, which speaks of a soon invasion by Russia, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Turkey, Libya and Egypt into Israel. This is the first place that "Gog of Magog" is mentioned. It's important for you to know that these prophesies do NOT refer to Armageddon, nor do they refer to the Gog/Magog insurrection described at Rev. 20:8, which takes place at the end of Jesus' Millenial Reign.

"Gog" refers to a person; it's a title for a Russian leader; Gog is NOT the antichrist. Magog is what we now know as Russia. Russia is north of Israel on your map. Remember that God always looks at Israel as the center of the map and you'll understand this reference.

I hope this helps. Peace.

I have serious thoughts about this one.

Mainly because the Quran mentions Gog and Magog as a race. Doesnt say human.

"But when Gog and Magog are let loose and they rush headlong down every height (or advantage)" (Quran 21:97)

It might be a possibility.
However since there is not enough evidence in the scriptures in Talmud, Bible & Quran, I can't say for certain that Gog is of alien race.
