Bush preaches patience and "stay the course",oops, he had to quit saying that, didn't he?We are not going to win in Iraq. How many military leaders have to argue this point before anyone is going to sit down and work toward getting us out of this hell we're in?There is no end in sight. We completely underestimated all of this and now we are paying with lives.Shock and awe, indeed.Lack of leadership is what shocks me.I'm awed by the total ineptness of this administration.

I don't see how we can. We shouldn't be there in the first place. Let that country live the way they want. Bush thought they were a threat to the USA but no weapons were found. My goodnesss why are we still there. Lives are being lost everyday. I'd like to hear a few soldiers opinions on this.

For an answer I think you have to define "win". I have no idea what that would be. It's an on going disaster if we stay and another disaster if we leave.

It is stunning how inept this group of people are. I'm a Rep. and one reason (I thought) was they were smarter than the Democrates. Gad, how wrong can you be.

Oh stop your whining thank god we did not have too many like you in some of our previous wars or else we would not be here. I can tell by your whining you are under 30 you think any war must go according to plan if you know of one tell me? and you also think any war that last over a week is a mess.

I agree that there is no further "win" here.
ONLY losses. Loss of our soldiers, loss of respect from the rest of the world, loss of a projected surplus from the Clinton administration, loss of a covert operative's cover, loss of Bin Ladin (as he is not in Iraq),

BTW, there have been a few gains
such as:
Gaining a generation of suicide bombers.
The weapons manufacturers have GAINED
The oil companies have GAINED from record prices off of record prices.
Saddam will GAIN cult status as soon as his punishment is carried out.

The only possible chance at victory is for the Iraqi army and police to become more effective. Till then there is no victory as long as huge amounts of US troops are there.

We can win if we don't leave before the job is done. We have done so much good there. The people have been so brave in their turning out to vote . . .literally risking their lives.

Yes, I believe it can be won. President Bush NEVER said it would be quick or that it would be easy.

I also wonder if we would have completed WWII if there was this type of media coverage.....

Don't think we'll ever 'win'. Refer to the Arab/Israeli conflict, its been around for thousands of years. Bush bought stock in that conflict when he chose to attack Iraq. He broke it, now he owns it.

There will be no winners in Iraq. It's a lose-lose situation.

Get out of their country!

We can't, not in our lifetimes. Invading Iraq was a stupid idea doomed to failure. Like Colin Powell predicted it: we broke it, and now we own it.
