why do certain people on here think they have the right to patronise people who they know nothing about ?

maybe this is a rant and not a question but sorry i have to say it .Just because a person needs help (not me )who the hell are all these ignoramouses whose only answer is get a job and scrounger theres thousands of people who can`t work for no end of reasons . they could have cronic or terminal illness theres people with severe learning difficulties .people who have to live on a pittance to care for someone old and sick mothers with a severely handicapped child .how much would it cost the tax payer if all the carers put these people in residential homes and got a job ?we should be grateful they look after them .if i had to choose between those bitter nasty people and a scrounger it would be the scrounger every time

As I said to a previous poster, this forum is not the exemplar of mental stability.

Certainly some of the more offensive answers seem to come from people with a mental illness. Another thing I find is that some posters have a cultural reference that is so far from mine (and that includes the 'get a job' posters) that they give the impression of psychopathology - ie a lack of empathy so extreme it appears to be a symptom of mental illness (even if it is not, and in their own social group they would appear sane).

Anyway, this is probably more analysis than you want, but in short, I agree with what you say. :)

Ok, yes lots of people give rude answers but there are also a lot of dumb questions out there. Like "I need money, but I can't get a job because I'm a student." Well guess what? I have one women in my class (grad school) who is a mother of three small children, one with health issues, and she has a full time job. This woman is usually at the top in grades and always manages to get to school no matter how tired she is. Her kids are well cared for, so don't say she's a neglectful mother. It's people who ask questions like that need to get over themselves and get a job, welfare and public assistance is for people who CANNOT work, not people who refuse to work because it will be hard...now that is my rant, I think it matches well with yours.

I guess some people haven't much to do with their time, and like to make themselves feel superior by rubbishing other people; I guess they can't feel that good about themselves to feel compelled to act in this way. Perhaps they are more to be pitied than scolded?
