Hi,
The best thing to do would be to be honest with him. Tell him how you feel. Explain to him that it didn't work out the first time and you would rather be friends with him instead of loosing him all together. If you be more honest then he will understand more. Or just tell him that you are not in that place at the moment and need some time to think about it. Good Luck.

What lead to your relationship hitting the rock in the first stance and why does he now want you back? Think very well before you go back this time as you might not be as lucky as you were as per the broken heart you got from the previous relationship you had with him and remember, once beaten, twice shy.

WELL ur situation looks bad
well if want him away politely then i can tell u the solution bu u must tell me the reason why u broke up , this wud be better as it will not break his heart
OR u tell him this if he really loves u and wants u to stay happy then he must stay away from ur life. If he really loves u then he wud do it but it might hurt him

Check the reason for your parting. Was it a small misunderstanding? or was it a harsh move from his side?
If the second one.. he can repeat the same. so just tell him that u can't!
Everyone won't be dere with us always.. someday in life we all will be alone.. live u'r life as it comes..
