Most every airplane that I have had experience with has fuel tanks in the wings. They are baffled to prevent "sloshing" of the fuel during flight and/or maneuvers. The next time you go to the airport, you might get a shot of them fueling one of the jet liners. The main reason for their being in the wings is to maintain a consistent center of gravity. The full tanks are positioned so that a full tank or a relatively empty tank gives the same center of gravity - this allows the pilot to expend all of the fuel without worrying about the CG changing.

Primarily in the wings, either in non-structural tanks (Cessna 172) or integrated fuel tanks (All modern airliners). Fuel can also be carried in wing tips (Cherokee Six, BN Islander) and wing tip tanks (Piper Twin Comanche, Navion).
Fueslage tanks are used on many aircraft. The Aero Commander and the Lear Jet have them at the rear. The Beaver, Otter, and Twin Otter have them in the belly. And the Ercoupe and Taylorcraft have them under the dashboar believe it or not. Also most airliners have fuel in the wing centre section that passes inches under the floor of the mid cabin.
External tanks are used for military and some civilian aircraft. Also some long range jets store fuel in the tail which help keep the weight to the rear and increase speed. Ferry tanks for airliners can be put in the baggage hold.

It depends on the make & model of the aircraft. Most of the time the main tanks are in the hollow spaces in the wings. Additional tanks can be mounted out on the wing tips. On some fighter jets, they have auxilliary tanks that are removeable mounted on the bottom of the fuselage to give them an extended range if necessary.
On large heavy commercial aircraft that are designed for long haul flights, fuel tanks are fitted into every available space throughout the aircrafts wings, & fuselage.
In those cases, the pilots have to be very mindfull of which tanks that they burn the fuel from 1st, so that the aircraft remains properly in balance as the flight progresses.

It depends on the size of the aircraft.
For very small ultralight aircraft, there is usually a small tank in the fuselage behind the pilot.
For light aircraft like Cessna 172's, the fuel tanks are part of the wing structure.
For heavier piston aircraft, there are usually also tanks on the tips of the wings to give additional fuel.
In large airliners, there are wing tanks and fuselage tanks, and depending on how old the aircraft is, either an engineer or a computer has to move fuel around in those tanks during flight to maintain the aircraft's balance.

Most of the fuel tanks are located in the wings of the aircraft. There is usually the main tanks that are located in the center of the wings and then there are tip tanks, that are located towards the wing tips.

Mostly in the wings. Other places U can find fuel tanks on planes are fuselage, vertical and gorizontal stabelizers and sometimes in wingtip/external wing tanks (like older Learjets and the Jetstar).

On commercial aircraft you have two area's where fuel is stored and they are in the wings and between the forward cargo and rear cargo hulls. The wings are fitted with rubber bladders to store the fuel while the tank between the forward and aft cargo hulls is a long range tank.

Wings and where ever there's room. Tanks can be added for long range flights. Example: On a fighter external tanks can be added, up to 3 on certain aircrafts. They sometimes add bladders to choppers, I've seen them on Search and Rescue choppers.

Wings, fuselage and wing tips. Usually the main tanks are in the wing itself. The Aux tanks are in the fuselage(Aerostars have that) and in the wing tips.
