Have you tried the 2 x 4 method? You take a 2 x 4 and knock her up beside the head with it.
I suspect though that this is too radical so you might want to try the do the dishes or find a new place to live. That might be a little extreme as well though.
The best way to go about it is to get her into a routine so that she does the chores at the same time every day. This is the same way she goes to work or school so it isn't that hard to get it started. It takes about 3 - 4 weeks to change a habit or develop a new one so don't expect overnight success. It just has to be structured and consistent. It also has to be enforced.

Sounds like you are intruding into the business of someone else. The relative the 23 year old is living with can either choose to tolerate the thoughtlessness, or set and enforce ground rules.
It is not your job to educate an adult. You cannot tell her anything she does not know, and you cannot make her choices for her. Nor can you make the choices for the relative. Chill. And if the relative is complaining to you, tell the relative that a person can not be taken advantage of without his/her own consent.

Have an older female relative go have a serious talk with her. If i knew her i would tell her myself or show her how to do it.You are never too old to learn and i myself haven't stopped learning and im 40 years old.She won't learn if someone doesn't try to TEACH her.

hahahah its to late... I started washing up when I was 12 to get pocket money and cleaning I worked hard for the money and now at 24 I own my own house I still am messy from time to time but I know common sense............ she obviously doesn't regard it as a high priority and has no respect for her relative, there house or there possessions..
leave dirty dishes in her room in her draws she might realize what its like to be disrespected and it would be fun

If you are the relative she's living with you can tell her that if she doesn't clean up after herself she'll have to find another place to live but if it's another relative that she's living with there isn't really anything you can do about it.

Its too late the only thing you can do know is suggest it and hope that she does it. she is 23 years old she should already know this stuff.

Sadly, if a 23 year old woman doesn't know how to clean up, I doubt she ever will. It's probably not because she doesn't know how, but because she is too lazy to do it.

Ahh, she has learned to train you.....and she's learned to push you buttons.
If that relatives does not have boundaries, and says nothing to her, there is nothing you can do....and her "lazy attitude" may last a lifetime.
Make yourself happy...look inside of you....she's laughing, she's laughing....so it's time you laugh too!

That was a job her parents/guardians should have taught her from day one. Yeah it's too late.
