I have gained weight drastically over the past few years. Lately, it's been a big struggle for me up until recently. I began to no longer care about my weight and seem satisfied with my size because I was happier with other aspects of my life. Well now, I'm ready to take on my weight again soon. My problem is...Will power...How do I get it. I've been on diet pills that decrease my apetite and they would have me losing weight, but my problem isn't from eating because I'm hungry, it's eating out of boredom...So I can't control myself when I have nothing else to do and food all around.
I've tried weight watchers and some really good diet pills...Any encouraging words to keep me strong and keep the will power going?
Thanks in advance. I am aware the only one who can stop me is me. But I feel like I need to tell myself something first before I acutally get it.

I hear you about the will power! Where do you get it?!?! Well, I did weight watchers, too, and was successful, and I had to find the will power, too.

Come up with a list of reasons why you want to lose weight. Make sure that they are not superficial reasons, like wanting to look good, or to show off to other people. Make sure they are good solid reasons, like wanting to be healthy, having the energy to play with your kids all day, etc. For me, it was watching a very overweight relative go through heart problems, strokes, and losing the ability to walk normally, and knowing that I did NOT want to be there.

Post this list on your fridge and on your pantry, and on the dashboard of your car. This way, you will keep your goals in mind everytime you reach for food or approach the drive-thru.

Another possibility is to go to a group like Overeaters Anonymous. This is more drastic, but if you can't overcome the food addiction on your own, then you may need more help, which is available through groups like this.

Another possibility is to get an on-line support buddy, such as at this site. There were times that I wanted to eat, but I went on-line to this site instead, and on it found all kinds of support to NOT eat. This is a really great site for weight loss fun. Check it out!

As a Christian I must factor out that it occurs on either side of the talk. I am now not definite why individuals act like this. My quality bet might be that a few atheist and a few Christians look extra worried with striking the opposite institution down than with sincere debate. Also, the YA element enters in. Too few questions anymore are individuals looking for sincere know-how. Most are individuals giving there reviews. In a few methods, it has turn out to be a "dialogue institution". But your query is legitimate. I have questioned myself why those questions are requested. Why might a Christian suppose that they would say something over a discussion board like this that might difference the opinion of an atheist? It's embarrassing to me as a Christian. Sadly they most commonly come off as condescending which makes matters even worse. I do express regret for this conduct in my brothers and sisters. They have so much developing to do, as have I, earlier than they turn out to be mature Christians. Pastor John

To begin with Will Power is not the answer.you need to get into a good group that can help,,,Such as Weight-Watchers, this help you to learn a life style change, not just to drop weight off by taking a pill,, You will learn what u can do to have better eating habits, and have more self esteem for ones self.. You sound to down on your self,,get rid of that attitude, and you will have all the so called will power u need, But a good support group such as weight watchers would help you tremendously.Good Luck....

If your weight gain (like mine) is due to an undetected blood sugar imbalance (hypoglycemia) then you have to get more info on that condition - because it may also be helping your boredom happen too.

Check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org and see if you have more symptoms. If so, then read the low blood sugar info. Once I am firm on a diet the cravings go away. And I have so much energy that even doing housework sounds better than just sitting around.

FIRST, you really have to want it for you. You have to decide that this is it. Do you want to lose the weight or the food? I have just went through this. One thing that helped me, I started drinking green tea and it speeded up my metabolism. Also changing your activity a little will help. I had not been doing much of anything and I started watching two toddler boys some. Now that is a workout for ya....lol Once I started losing weight and went down a size, I was so proud of myself, I refused to succomb to the desire to eat that second huge portion of whatever.....and now that people are telling me I look like I have lost weight, well, that just makes me want to lose it that much more. I am feeling good about myself and beginning to love myself more. Also, maybe get you a hobby or volunteer to do something or help someone who is in need. that will get your mind off of things. Or just get outside if you can. Change your envirement. Just some suggestions. Take it from one who has been through it, it was not easy. But when I got my mind set. I WANT THIS FOR ME. I WANT TO CHANGE I WANT TO LIVE TO SEE MY CHILDREN MARRIED. I WANT TO LIVE TO SEE MY GRANDCHILDREN. THANK THE LORD, HE HAS HELPED ME. Good luck

Have you considered weight loss surgery? I had it five months ago and while it is a drastic measure, it has turned my life around. I had the gastric bypass and went from a size 16-18 to a size 4. I was suffering from High Blood Pressure and severe Sleep Apnea. All of that is gone now. If you choose this route, make sure to do your research. Big big decision!!!

Well throw out all of the junk food. Eat carrots and salads. Eat a salad with every meal, that is good for you digestive track and you digest food faster and your body does not have as much time to store calories. Also find a hobby. Read a book, cross stick, get up go out side and take some pictures, dust some nick, knacks, put a puzzle together.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, if you care about your weight and your looks enough...you would stop eating more than you should and you would start some light exercises.

Did you know: that the recommended food portion for a person is whatever can fit in the palm of your hand. Whether it's fruit, bread, meat, etc... No portions bigger than what you can fit inside your palm.

You need to find something to replace your response to eating out of boredom.....go swimming, take up knitting or crochet - crossword puzzles, computer things, art work, answering yahoo questions...lol
It's your conditioned behavior that is sabotaging you - if you still feel the need to eat after trying some of these, eat plain popcorn, or something else that has little or no calories.
Remember when you were younger and that feeling you had after playing tether ball, or dancing......you need to get that back somehow....maybe take up belly dancing???

forget about diet pills, theyre pretty much all crap. diet and exercise. dont worry about how much you eat, but what you eat. nothing wrong with an apple or banana. motivation and willpower is very difficult, but it must come from within. everytime you feel yourself slipping, stop and think. why am i doing this? why did i start? do i really want to lose weight? what do i want to lose weight for? is it for me? some special guy? what are my goals?
