No! Coffee wakes you up and brandy numbs you so you don't give a damm about what's happening around you. I had a brother in law that drank that every morning for breakfast and that was what he said it was for. I asked him the very same question. 35 years ago

it's to warm you up on cold mornings,also a very good hangover cure.and it tastes good too.

lots of different nationalities mix small quantities of alcohol with coffee:

irish: irish coffee(with whisky) or baileys coffee(baileys irish cream instead of milk)

french: brandy

carribean: calypso coffee - with tia maria or kaluha
