Do you have a good resource for information on boxing? I want to become a professional boxer and I'm wondering what you get paid in the beginning. My friend said he was going to get $500 for his first pro fight. Do you know how much that ammount goes up if your say 5 and 0?

Joe ~
In my opinion, it all depends on if you (The fighter) has any type of following or not. Is the fighter a Golden Glove Champion or National Champion. In most cases depending on the Promoter and venue most four round fighter range between $200 to $400 and that goes up when you fight a six rounder $300 to $600 and it goes up again to $500 to $1,000 for eight rounds and $700 to $1,500 for a ten round fight. Now mind you this is if you're a guy just starting out with no backing by any sponsors or owners (people that have money invested in you)
If you have a big following some Promoters will give you a cut of your ticket sales and if you are a up and coming fighter the amount that you can get will far exceed the above mentioned purses.
I hope this helped Joe. Good luck.
