Yes but the body can only deal with small amounts of it as in large amounts it can cause problems.

There are two forms of fluoride. One you take internally. This is for forming strong teeth. Usually only children benifit from this type of fluoride. There is some debate as to wether it helps bones be stronger. The other type of fluoride is topical like toothpastes or rinses. These help re-mineralize the teeth. Acids we eat and create during the day cause the tooth to de-mineralize a little. Too much de-mineralization causes a cavity. By re-mineralization, we can help prevent cavities

Hmm, if you look up fluoride on google you'll get a lot of conflicting stuff. I thought some States of USA were very against it? I also heard that the better dental records in some places are not necessarily linked to the fluoride that has been introduced, just to the education that went with it.

What about babies? There's no known safe dose.

Do people realize how many medications which save millions of lives are "poison" in the wrong amounts?

"The Government" is responsible for the health of its citizens. Fluoride in water is a cheap, effective way to reduce tooth decay in the general population.

There is lots of conflicting evidence on this one! But in general flouride is good for you, but not if you take too much as it is believed to lead to discolouration of the teeth. The amount in toothpastes is not enought to do any harm (usually). However in the UK (not sure about other countries) tap water contains flouride, and there are people who believe water companies should remove it. But I think filtering water will remove the flouride (not entirely sure but I filter my water anyway).

If you look up about chemicals on the web you will see that too much flouride is not healthy. This applies to many other chemicals used in toiletries. Its best to buy a natural alternative if you are worried.

let's face it flouride is a poison, and the government should stop trying to mass medicate the population. It is up to personal choice
whether to use flouride, and yes it does prevent decay!

Absolutely, but if you overdose on it, your teeth may become discoloured and even disfigured. Ask your dentist.
