Why does fish pie smell so much?

i'm sat at my desk someone has just cooked a fish pie, you can smell it all over the office, first hand ok! second hand ugh!!

I truly believe it should be against the law to bring a fish dish of any kind to the work place, it's just a bit much. I remember at work when this person used to bring chowder every other week and it would be smelly through the WHOLE building, everyone would be sniffing and gagging, totally grossed out. As the old smell lingers it tends to get even more stinky as the day goes on...all I can say is YUCK!!!! I feel your pain.

What kind of fish was it made from? For a pie, it must have been a red fish, or sword fish, as white fish usually does not have a strong odor, like Orange Roughy, and Cod. Red fish can hold up to longer cooking times than white fish. The fish in the pie must have been freshly cut, that is why it stank.

Fish stinks.

I'm veggie and once had to leave a resturant because my really nice date ( our first night out together ) chose the salmon. It was just one of those sacrifices I had to make, couldn't stand the smell !

I guess I'd stink if i was plucked out of the air, dragged under water and boiled for an hour.

became there fish interior the frig alongside with the pie? loads of ingredients can take in the aroma of different ingredients. consistent with hazard some fish juice dripped from a a techniques better shelf onto the pie....ewwwww! i might initiate over with a sparkling pie myself.

Decent fish shouldnt really smell fishy. If I have fish and it smells too fishy I dont eat it as usually means its off.
