I'm really curious about this, perhaps you guys can help me
Is it Halloween you dislike or Samhain? And if it is Samhain what is your reasoning for disliking this holiday as it is nothing to do with devil worship? If Halloween, can you explain that too please?
Thanks very much, I'll appreciate any sensible answers!

Thanks guys I'm starting to understand now. It wasnt until I came here that I found out there are people who dont like Halloween, as I grew up it was almost better than Christmas for kids, then as I started studying other religions I found out about Samhain etc and wondered if thats why people didnt like it.
And thanks bottles, I'm perfectly aware of what used to be done a very long time ago around this time of year so i wont be needing your take on things!

Nancy, thanks for that very honest answer. Samhain is the Pagan holiday celebrated today, its a time to remember our loved ones (not conjure the devil as some people think)

I really don't get why some Christians condemn Halloween. Halloween's origin is in Paganism, as is Christmas and Easter, but Christians celebrate those two religiously.

It dates back to honor the dead, It was called Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. I just dont feel the need to honor them, they are dead, let the dead be and honor the one's that are alive. Also by the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. It is widely believed today that the pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween. I dont know it all just seems to fishy to me. And I dont think its right. But hey thats just my opinion. I guess once you dig deep into the truth you see everything white as snow.

OMGs! I almost wasn't going to answer this question, having seen all the 'Devil night' replies, but I will anyway. I wont go on to explain why it isn't evil, as I will be simply wasting my breath. I observe Samhain, and celebrate the Gods 'hybernation' - as I call it, as like nature, I don't believe he really dies, but simply goes to sleep, until he is resurrected via the Goddess at Yule, which I am really looking forward to, now that I have archetypes for my deities! Took me a long time to find them and be comfortable with them. Now, I adore them!
Hope you had a blessed Samhain.

As a Christian, I am aware there are some of my faith who refuse to celebrate Halloween. But I figure, no matter how this event got started, now it's all about costumes, kids, and candy.
If we Christians throw out Halloween, we would have to throw out Christmas and Easter too, since they also have their roots in pagan worship.
Just my opinion. ( I don't know what Samhain is)

As I understand Halloween, people would dress up to either look like demons (so not to be noticed) or to try to scare them off.
I don't agree with this. As a Christian, I have authority over this.
For the children, we have a harvest type festival or hallelujah night for the children, where candy is given away and games are played. This way, the children can have fun in a safe environment, and get lots of candy too.

1 Thes 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Halloween has an appearence of evil would you say? Do you think that Yahweh was speaking of celebrating this holiday?
Gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized that they had sinned; they had violated Yahweh's Laws. Because they had not kept Yahweh's Laws, they were afraid.
Notice, Genesis 3:7 shows that they sinned. The Theological Word Book of the Old Testament by Harris, Archer and Waltke Volume 2, page 695, shows that the Hebrew root word oram, which was translated naked in the King James Version, is correctly translated sin. Sin is the transgression or breaking of Yahweh's Laws.
I Yahchanan 3:4—
Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law.
Revelation 12:9—
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. She was cast out into the earth, and her angels were cast out with her.
Satan decieves by making you think that it's OK to celebrate holidays that began with Pagan God worship.
Daniyl 7:25—
And he will speak great words against Yahweh, and will wear out; mentally attack to cause to fall away, the saints of Yahweh, and think to change the Feasts and holy days, and Laws; and they will be given into his hand until a time, and times, and the dividing of time.
This religion changes Yahweh's Laws. Remember, she devours the whole earth which means she has changed the Laws of Yahweh in the minds of all people on earth. That's exactly what the last revelation given to mankind shows is the case for this time period. The teaching that mankind does not need to keep or adhere to the inspired Laws of Yahweh has been placed in the minds of all who dwell on the earth in this generation. They have been taught to accept and partake in a mixture of righteousness and evil, which is the same teaching Cain, being led by Satan, presented.
KEEP THE LAWS OF YAHWEH!

The one and only reason that I do not like halloween is because I hate having to dish out sweets to the hundreds of kids that knock at my door, when I'd rather be relaxing on the sofa watching TV!

I am a Christian and I don't like Halloween much. I don't give out candy. My daughter will take my grandson trick or treating and then we will all go to a Fall Festival at a church. That is the way I like it. I don't condemn the day - as the Lord made the day - but I just participate very little in it - except the church related part. Blessings.

as a christian, i believe halloween should not be celebrated because it stands for what it obviously is...glorifying evil. how can someone reason that 'christmas' is along the same lines as 'halloween'?!? most christians knows these events stem from pagan festivities but the underlying meaning of christmas is however NON-pagan. people will always twist the truth and defy that scripture clearly gives instructions NOT to participate in such an event! if you do, that's between you and God!
3 John 1:11 (KJV holy bible)
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Those who refuse to celebrate Halloween do so because they do not wish to violate God's command not to "worship other god's before Me".
To celebrate what is considered by them to be a satanic ritual would be to break that commandment, so they do not. But not all of us feel that that is what we are doing ... we're just having fun!
As for me and my family, we'll be knocking on your door yelling "Trick or Treat!!" tonite, so have lots of good candy ready!!!
