Like you, I didn't see spots appearing until I was in my twenties. Some people get them a little later.

The best thing to do is to see your local dr who may be able to treat the problem with a low dose of antiobiotics just so the bacteria can be cleared up and your spots given a chance to heal. He may refer you to a dermatologist if he feels the need to do so.

In the meantime, just continue to thoroughly cleanse your skin morning and night(with a gentle cleanser).
A light astringent will help to remove any excess dirt that your cleanser dosn't remove.

As far as health is concerned, you are doing everything correctly.
You could maybe increase your intake of foods containing vitamin C. Or try taking some supplements like zinc and vitamin A.
The problem is possibly hormonal(because of your age) and I assure you it will clear one day and you will have smooth skin again.

If the acne is so severe, a dermatologist may put you on stronger medications.

Some people are saying "Proactive" works good, but before you go and spend a lot of money, my suggestion would be to see your dr. Any infection in the skin needs to be cleared up with antiobiotics and usually, they are very fast acting.

Don't stimulate the oils in your skin either by heavy rubbing or excess washing.
Try and stay out of the sun as much as possible but remember a little vitamin D(10minutes a day) is good for the skin.

Try to avoid touching your face as well and spreading the bacteria.

Let me assure you that this will pass with the right treatment,
and I wish you well : )

My daughter went through this, she never wore a dress. She eventually outgrew this living in the Southwest. When we moved to Michigan she broke out again, so did I.
Both of ours seems to be weather related. I use Mometsone Furote creme and when I take a bath I use Epsom salts it seems to help.
I don't know what else to say except keep trying what your dermatologist suggests.

I tried EVERYTHING, proactive, neutragena(?), Avon, Acutane prescription!!!(got brain swelling), Guess what worked..............Mary Kay's Velocity Cleanser and Moisturizer! I had a friend that sold it and she kept trying to get me to use it and I was like, "If the doc can't, Mary Kay surely CAN'T" I got desperate and tried it, within a couple of months my skin was so clear I cried. I could go to the store without make-up and not be ashamed!! I had boils and massive pimples and MK got rid of it. Find a KNOWLEDGEABLE MK consultant in your area to help you.

I would ask a dermatologist before randoms on the internet.

Probably a few dermatologists, b/c I've seen a few who I have a feeling were fairly incompetant.
