Brush your teeth at least 2 times every day, using a fluoride toothpaste. Be sure to brush along the gumline, as well as all tooth surfaces. Each time you brush your teeth, use your toothbrush to clean the surface of your tongue.
Floss your teeth at least once a day to remove food from between your teeth.
Eat more fruits and vegetables every day. Eat less meat.
Avoid certain foods that cause you to have bad breath. These foods might include onions, garlic and pastrami. Alcoholic beverages often cause bad breath.
Avoid using tobacco products. Any kind of tobacco can cause halitosis.
Sometimes a dry mouth has an unpleasant odor. If your mouth is dry, you can suck on sugar-free mints, chew sugar-free gum or drink water.
Most mouthwashes do not have a long-lasting effect on bad breath. If you use a mouthwash, swish it around in your mouth for 30 seconds before spitting it out.
If you wear removable dentures, take them out at night. Brush the dentures and soak them overnight in a disinfecting solution. Removable braces should also be cleaned. Follow the directions of your dentist.
See your dentist twice a year to have your teeth cleaned.
If you still have bad breath, see your family doctor to find out what is causing it.

There are several things that could be causing canine bad breath. Let's sort it out and maybe eliminate some of the reasons. Are you feeding soft food or dry food and if you are feeding soft food, are you providing hard bones (either man made or not) to help keep the teeth clean? And no, it doesn't hurt to give your dog LARGE bones on which to chew, as long as they are raw, never cooked, as that dries out the bones and causes splintering. If your dog has gum disease, it is caused by the same reasons that people get gum disease, improper hygiene. Yes, you can brush your dog's teeth, they even make different flavored toothpaste for dogs, they love it. Now, if the problem is internal, such as poor digestion or it may be eating feces or other things that causes the breath to be bad...or licking where it shouldn't, but will anyway. Sometimes, a dog's bad breath will come from licking an itchy part of it's body that is caused by some allergies. I would suggest that a trip to your vet would answer your question and solve your problem. I hope that this answer has helped. Oh, I forgot to mention that gum disease can shorten your dog's life, not immediately, but because odor is usually evidence of some infection, plus if your dog's gums and teeth are hurting, he isn't going to eat right either.

Could be a garlic or alcohol but I think your problem is with flossing. Most people don't realize how important it is. The plaque is building up under your gums and rotting, it causes this bad smell. Try it and see, you will see that in the beginning (first 2 or 3 times) your gums will blead a bit - this is perfectly normal. After this your gums will become healtier once the plaque isn't eating away at it.
Remember - brush at least twice a day, floss once a day, as soon as plaque gets 24hrs old they become much worst.
Sorry that I'm sounding like a floss freak, but this was my problem
Good luck

no proper diet leads to indigestion and gastric irritation and flatulence.
so this is the major reason and the remedy lies in your question itself.
timely diet and a proper diet is the solution.and also try to take some fruits regularly like papaya which would clean your digestive system and keep you healthy.
try to chew ORBIT gum immediately after meals it will reduce the tarter formation.
all other precaution have already been told to u by other bloggers.
take care ,teeth are most precious.

Make sure you don't have an empty stomach. Don't skip meals. Cut out the onion and garlic. Brush at least twice a day, and don't forget to brush your tongue. Also, floss your teeth daily. They have linked problems with memory and possibly Alzheimers to bacteria in your mouth and flossing prevents this. You can also try some mouthwash.

Do you floss? If not that could be a reason. Food gets stuck between the teeth and leads to a build up of plaque and tartar which can lead to bad breath.

bad diet, irregular eating and empty stomach can also cause bad breath
have regular meals. brush your teeth or atleast wash you mouth with listerine after every meal.
also use a tongue scraper gently on your tongue after brushing
keep a clove in your mouth during the day
all this should help you fight bad breath.
good luck

Yes. not eating right can cause bad breath. Also if you are not flossing that can cause it too. Particles of food get trapped between your teeth when you eat and you need to floss to remove them. If you are having problems with your stomach that can cause bad breath too.
