Because we are not preachers.
We are not opportunists looking for money,
but honest people searching for enlightenment.
Faith is not about any other person.
Its all between God and You.

Preachers who are teaching properly know full well the Lord will provide. Mine know this, it's biblical. If a Preacher does not know this, he should not be in a teaching position.

We should have faith in God because we are not to listen to man if it's not the proper teaching. Anyone can say anything, you need to test the spirit and make sure it lines up with the word.

Money is a necessity and God knows this, so if someone spews how money is the root of all evil, it's wrong. It's the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil. People love to twist scripture.

Just give if the Lord tells you to give. Other than that, why worry about anyone else, do what God tells you to do and that's final.

Remember preachers are just people too... just because they went to school for 8 years and now have a white collar or a degree does not make them perfect or holy. Faith is a personal decision that should be based on yourself your reflections of your own life and the experiences you have. Do not look to someone else to find your faith but rather look within yourself.

As far as charity goes if you decide to give money you should give it to a place where you know where the money is going and know to what use it will go. Giving money to beggars and letting them go buy beer or drugs is not really helping out humanity as the same goes with all the religious organizations who ask for a gift or donation. Research the charity and if you can participate in it. At least this way you will know the money is going for good purposes and not into someone's pocket!!!

I do not give money to churches because i do not know where the money goes directly. Instead i try to help out friends or buy food and things for them or my family when they are in need.

One thing i always thought would be cool to do is ( haven't done it yet) would be to find a nice family who is struggling with money and go directly to the bank where their mortgage is and pay a month of thier house payment or car payment and tell the bank you want to remain anonymous. That way you have helped someone you know where the money went and the person or family has no way of knowing who helped them and therefore they will never try to pay you back or feel embarrassed. I think little deeds like that really go a long way in making someone's day, month or year!!!

The early church used to "pool" their collective resources in order to provide for the entire faith community.

Today, we do things a bit differently.

Let God worry about the preachers, and just give what you can to contribute to the care of your church and the charitable programs it sponsors.

If you're sure funds aren't being used wisely, either do something about it or find another church.

All preachers aren't corrupt, neither are all Christians tightwads.

And whoever said EVERYTHING from God was free?

The only free stuff is salvation and our own will. Everything else comes at a price, and not necessarily a monetary one.

They have faith, that is why they picked up the preaching job (every body cannot be a preacher). God cannot come down and start building HIS own church, taking care of the need in the church, etc. Giving for the work of God is an appreciation for what God is doing for us daily. Sleeping and waking up each day is enough to appreciate God for.

What church are you going to?
There are whole denominations built on not asking for money. Calvary Chapel is a big one. There are many small churches that don't ask for money and even some who refuse it. The guy who wrote the purpose driven life reverse tithes which means he gives 90% of the profit back to the work of GOD. I will admit I have seen faithless pastors who do preach faith but then freak out at the budget meetings but they have been the minority not the majority in my experience. I would caution against the "Six flags over Jesus" Churches. They are usually not very much about Jesus at all and more of a country club.

May GOD richly bless you.

Perhaps, your generosity to the preacher is the way God provides. Knowing that the people will support him in his work as a minister of God allows the preacher to concentrate on spreading the gospel. He doesn't have to worry about worldly cares because they are provided by the faithful.

Don't worry about their souls, worry about your own. Having faith in God and obeying His laws will reward you with eternal life. What happens to these preachers is their business. Don't give money to them. Use your money to help the ones you want, like the poor in your area, donate to thrift stores, helping a friend in need, etc. Just because someone else is corrupt and talks about them kowing God, doesn't mean they do. Focus on yourself and your eternal rest. God will take care of those who truly believe.

The Bible tells us we are the body of Christ. We do the physical work of Christ. We live our lives and do our deeds as close to how Jesus Christ teaches as our level of faith and obedience allows.

We want to provide a salary for our preacher, so he can use his time to oversee our church and study and pray about what to teach us.

We need it, and are willing to support him.
