If you have concerns always ask the x-ray technician. Full dental x-rays may differ in strength from skull x-rays for a possible fractured skull and lenses may show up depending on material (solid or flexible). X-rays are similar to ultraviolet rays in sunlight only of shorter wavelengths and far more penetrating. They can ionize certain materials but the lowest dose practical is generally used to avoid tissue damage. X-ray technicians should ask you to remove any contact lenses if there is an issue.

Contact lenses are made of a soft polymer (similiar to plastic). They can be worn during an xray.
