I have no idea what this means. As a guy, that kinda makes you feel a little on the, ah, little side... At first impressions anyway... Any girls out there understand this statement and care to help a guy totally in love with an amazing woman understand?

She is quoting from a beautiful love poem by Ellizabeth Barrett Browning-
I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.

It seems that Roy Croft is given credit for writing the following poem that uses some of Barrett's words (?).

Love

I love you
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.

I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.

I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;

I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,

And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple.

Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.

I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good.
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.

You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.

You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.

I saw a psychologist on TV once who defined love as "a state of happiness and peace with yourself that is brought on by the presence of another." Maybe that's what she meant. Unsolicited Advice: Love is love and life is TOO short. Revel in the love!

Your girl friend is having an inflated idea of her own importance.
Get rid of her, unless she is good looking.

In that case you must forgive anything she says, enjoy, every guy will do the same

Regards
PHD Love

This statement is a compliment to you. It means you make her feel special and good about herself. That is a positive...good job, man.

Dope....what she means is that you bring out the best in her....not you.....and that's the only reason why she loves you....does that make sense, now that I have rephrased it for you??? Sounds like she has an attention seeking problem!!! Whose needs are met here?

I think that was a line from Jerry Mcguire. It basically means you bring out the best in her, which is a sweet thing to say.

Yes, it means that being around you she feels pretty, special, smart, happy, confident etc etc and that she loves you because of all these wonderful things that she feels when she's around you. Keep making her feel that way.

It could mean that you make her feel great & that would be a part of who you are so I think you need to ask her to explain that one. maybe it came out wrong& really was a nice way of saying that you are great.

You make her feel good about herself. That's the nicest thing a girl could say to a guy.
