Question

Pharmaceuticals are defined as medicines right?
Revelation in greek translations suggests pharmaceuticals are sorcery. It also states that at this(or that) time people would not turn away from them.

''for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived." -- Revelation 18:23 Is one such area
Revelation 9
,The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.,


The Question is are Vitamin supplements a poison or/and drug. A pharmaceutical or 'PHARMAKEIA'.
And what else might be classed as such a thing.... Your bowl of cornflakes with fortifies vitamins.
You must understand that these vitamins are not natural, are they?
''magnesium oxide is one example''.

I ask this so i stop this sin.

My Greek lexicon defines "pharmakeia" as:

1) the use or the administering of drugs;
2) poisoning;
3) sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it;
4) metaphor for the deceptions and seductions of idolatry.

Remember, the Revelation uses metaphorical language in many places; I think this is but one example. Rev. 18. tells us about the fall of false religion AND the city where it's headquartered. In this context, it makes perfect sense to say that this false religious system has "poisoned" the minds of its believers by use of idolatry.

So, no, I don't think this is a commandment from God to abstain from drugs. Think about it: Paul the Apostle was Jesus' "chosen vessel," and many times Luke the physician attended him; we can presume Luke gave Paul medicines, right? Don't you think if medicines were not permitted, Paul would have written something about this subject?

God is not the "author of confusion." When He wishes us to abstain from something, we can trust Him to tell us plainly. This is not the case here.

It is true that the words Sorcery and Pharmaceuticals come from the same route, but it may be that we have misapplied the word when talking about medical matters. The use of medicines is not forbidden in the Bible. The term Sorcery is used in connection with magic, so it applies to drugs that alter the perception. Mind altering drugs, hallucinogenics and the like.

It means drugs, illicit drugs -- that cloud the mind and destroy the body, and lead people away from GOD. God told Adam and Eve to "eat of every herb of the field". Alot of herbs are in vitamin supplement form. Was God condemning vitamins? No. Only illicit drugs. Utilize more common sense. If you're taking vitamin supplements, then continue to do so, God has nothing against healthy vitamins.

i think you've gone too far

whatever is good for your health and helps you take care of your body is good and is not a sin (as long as there is a necesity of doing that, for example an illness)

but if you go and make yourself addicted to drugs without any good reason (sleep aids, antidepressants, narcotics, etc) then that's where the sin begins i guess

well, my point is that addiction is a sin (addiction to ANYTHING material), and the drugs may sometimes become such a materia but most of the time they're just healing aids which is not a sin
