Just another way of getting more of your hard earned. They would tax you on breathing if they could find a way of collecting it.

They could save some of the pollution by removing the the motorway congestion caused by the miles of coned off sections this only seems to be there to slow traffic up so that the government can claim that the road is congested and therefore needs congestion charges applied. The whole thing is just a scam from the "government of low taxation". The robber barons are out to get more and more tax, years ago when this happened we had the peasants revolt and I think we're due for another.

The answer is yes because charging a so called green tax will change the amount of negative contribution to global warming by some people in a way that would not otherwise have happened. It is curious to call it a tax. More realistically it is a charge. Contributing to global warming has negative economic effects. 'Free' use of the environment is an economic externality. The benefits are enjoyed by the individual but at the expense of everyone else. It is much fairer for those consuming public goods to have to be charged for their use. This is the polluter pays principle. On this basis the green charge will be beneficial and fair.

I think that this government is coming to the end of it's reign and so is trying desperately to raise money so they can achieve all the things they promised (and failed) to deliver. In conning the public into thinking that a "green tax" is going to somehow save the world from self destruction is worrying to say the least. The fact that Great Britain produces only 2% of the world's CO2 emissions is evidence enough that even if we half our pollution figures, we will make but 1% difference to the so called Global Warming effect. Is this miniscule amount of do-gooding really worth increased taxes, poverty and general unrest? I think not!!

It's all gone very quiet, but over the weekend, some well know Professor who knows about this sort of thing said that GB only produces 2% of the worlds' output of nasties which are allegedly going to change everything on Earth within the next ten minutes - or is it 100 years, I forget.... and even if we went ahead and did all the recycling crap, all gave up driving and all lived on fresh air etc etc, we'd only reduce that 2% down to one and a half per cent, so WHY BOTHER ? ? ?
Therefore, he said, that all of this "greening" is nothing more than money spinning and will make next to no difference, so in the words of the Scots bloke in "Dad's Army", until the rest of the world really DOES get its finger out, WE'RE ALL DOOMED I SAY, DOOMED ! ! !

Its another scam making us pay more tax, the government is pulling our emotional strings saying that this will help our children's future. What about the millions of chemical plants that destroy the climate. If you ask me the government should make Hybrid cars cheaper and maybe alleviate tax on them so that we can all afford such a car. No my fellow citizen's, another scam to worm money out of us !

no it wont. as they admitted on the news as well this tax is to "save 1% on the economy". basically they reckon global warming would reduce the economy and the tax is to make up some of those losses.

see that stupidity when the government can simply work out ways of or contribute to technology that tries to easing the problem of global warming.

personally, i believe its a scam...

Only Billy Liar and Robber Brown could come up with a suggestion for taxing the end of the world.

And no it won't stop climate change and only human arrogance believes

1) We are causing it
2) We can do anything about it

Anything that is done to try and help save the earth is a step in the right direction. I mean, we won't need to worry about money when there's no planet left.

No it will give them money to burn and make it worse. If they really cared they could have done more sooner. Disaster is power with no brains.
