Depends:

If your camcorder is digital then you can probably stream the video via usb or firewire directly onto your PC (assuming you have necessary ports). If you indeed have a digital camcorder, it should have been packaged with appropriate software.

If you have a camcorder that's a bit dated, then you would have to rip the video onto your computer via a graphics card or tv card. If your computer is a bit older, then the picture may lag and drop frames, which isn't nice at all.

Either was, the video will take up quite a bit of room on your hard drive while working with it.

Personally, I have this:http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/%20INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=VRDVC20&Dept=computers&CategoryName=cpu_Sony_PCAccessories_CD%2fDVDBurn_DVDBurners

Using it, or something similar, you can transfer your video directly to dvd (you can connect a camcorder or vcr to the burner) without any further hassel. The quality is a bit lackluster, and you could definately get better by recording directly to comp then using better codecs, but it's really good enough imo.

Yes it is possible. You can connect the VHS recorder to your graphic's card (not all graphics card support an input) or via a tv tuner card (I currently use a mercury one). If you use Windows XP it comes with a free program, Windows Movie Maker, to copy the VHS (or betamax, laserdisc, etc) to .avi format. Once you have the avi format, you can then continue to use Windows Movei Maker to finish your project or you can use Nero (this is what I use) to finish off the DVD.

Or like it was suggested already you could buy a video/dvd recorder. However I have found that some VHS tapes will not copy. This maybe down to some sort of protection.

Hope this helps.
