Dear Friend,
Depression is an illness that many people often sweep under a rug. However if depression is left untreated... Your life can become a living nightmare. Depression is a growing epidemic in the US, but it never gets the urgent attention it deserves. You need help and you need it now.
But you say, "I have insurance, why not just see a therapist." You may not know this, but even though you may see that therapy is covered under your plan, many insurance companies limit the number of visits you are allowed. Worse yet some plans have an extremely limited selection of approved therapists, many of whom just put up a sign and call themselves therapists with no credentials. Additionally talk therapy is a major time investment - meaning taking time off work and away from your family. Imagine having all the information you need right at your fingertips to use or sift through on YOUR schedule.

OK so you have a temper. We all have these feelings however we learn to control them through understanding what makes us angry and avoiding these situations for example if you get angry with alcohol you need to stop or reduce the amount so you are still in control. keep a diary and note down the things that make you angry and the ways you can deal with it, this is trial and error.
If your anger is controlling your life, or is a risk to your-self or others, see your doctor as he will be able to advise you of a anger management group, this will make you feel less alone.

Try to remove all emotion from your life. That would be a good starting point.
Emotions are all rote-reactions programmed into you at the instinctual level... They are the body's trigger mechanisms to get you to act a certain way in accordance with self-preservation. Anger exists to try and make you seem threatening and trigger the self-preservation instinct of others in order to keep them away from you. If you don't actually need to keep them away from you then you don't need to be angry. Afterall, the anger would not help your situation in the slightest, and might in fact hinder your ability to function.
If you find yourself in a situation where you are likely to become angry, its typically best to remember that its just pre-programmed animal instincts getting the better of you... and that as a being capable of reason you should be able to override the more primitive commands and remain in full conscious control. Consider the anger to be a threat in and of itself, and deny it access to your surface thoughts. You can even turn your instinct in on yourself by associating anger with fear.... learning to fear becoming angry... and it shouldn't then happen as much. All you need for that is to deliberately think fearful thoughts whenever you begin to become angry.... its that simple.
Remember... emotions are unnecessary in most circumstances. They are primitive and you are better than that. Keep that forever in mind.

You could ask your GP to refer you to counselling or anger management, if you feel your temper is too much for you and is affecting your life and those around you, then this could really help. Learning relaxation techniques and learning to change your behaviour through self hypnosis could also help you. It may sound silly, but if you can learn to visualise yourself behaving in a calm and relaxed manner in stressful situations, then you can make this a reality.
