As the geothermal energy is the energy provided by the internal heat energy of earth, even by radioactive rocks. And above all, it is not in a regular practise for obtaining energy. so Yes, Geothermal enenrgy is a non-conventional source of energy

A geothermal plant is built around areas that have naturally occurring geothermal pockets of steam. Alot of the west coast of the USA has a number of generating geothermal plants because of the amount of volcanic activity going on just under the earths crust in this area. If there is no geothermal activity in an area,then there would be no source of energy to run a geothermal plant.
