Orthodox means someone who strictly follows the rules of their beliefs and religion.
Orthodox is also a religion that is the original Christianity. They believe that God, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit are one God together. Many people who are Orthodox have Greek or

The guy from Egypt is an Orthodox Christian. Orthodox Christianity is the oldest and original Christianity. Jesus Christ(Yeshua Al-masiah) used to speak Aramaic...a semitic language and Christianity was spread to Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria Egypt and Arabian peninsula before entering to Europe. So Egyptian Christians are one of the oldest Chritians. Even entering to Europe Christianity got changed hugely. The Roman catholic and all other sects of Christianity---like Protestant, Seventh day adventist, Anglican etc came later. Greek , Bulgarians and Russians of Europe also follow the oldest Christianity i.e. Orthodox Christianity.
If you talk about the origin, Orthodox Christians are Semitic and Caucassoid(Armenia, Georgia etc).
The guy you mate is one of the oldest originated Christians...even centuries before the British and German and Romans knew about Christ.

straight or right opinion/way... you know, like "the straight and narrow" you know, like how an orthodontist is a guy (or girl) who makes your teeth straight (rights them) In general, in religion, the orthodox group is the group that sticks closest to the original interpretation, especially of a holy text.

"orthodox" means "correct."

If he was an Orthodox Christian, then he follows a similar, but slightly different, tradition from the Catholic one.

In general it means "proper", adhering to traditional or established beliefs.

It is a compound Greek word:
orthos (right, proper) + doxa (glory, opinion)

The "ortho-" part you meet in many words like orthopaedic, orthodontist, orthography, orthogonal etc.

The "dox" you meet in doxology, paradox, etc.

Regarding Christianity, it is mainly used to (but not limited to) describe the followers of the Christian orhodox creed, called Orthodoxy (ORTHOTHOXIA)

It is pronounced ORTHO-TH(or D)O-XOS (in its masculine form)

No, not all orthodox's are white
