How about smiling back?
Even if she is just being friendly a smile returned is a wonderful thing.
Maybe you should ask yourself why you are feeling shy, it is something you can work on.
Maybe once you smile back you might even get up the nerve to say hello or ask how she's enjoying class.
This may or may not be a love connection, but it can become a the connection you need to begin feeling good about yourself and about your approach to the opposite sex.
Try asking how she's liking class or a certain assignment that should get a conversation rolling..Okay?

Get your self gentle and talk to her. You shouldn't rush to any thing just try to know her better. But being shy will not do you any good. I was shy my self but I have got over it now. You should be strong and convince your self.
