Sometimes I do check names out sometimes I dont. I know where you are coming from though with the slagging off. I've posted a couple of questions before and been ripped to bits for it and I must say that bothers me too. We shouldn't be bothered about the negative people in this world at the end of the day there'll come a time that these people really need someone and chances are there'll be no-ne around for them.

There are a lot of beautiful people out there so I say we take time for them and ditch the loosers, my view now is, if there having a go at me there leaving some other poor soul alone.

Take it easy ;-)

I don't read the 'name' of the person but I do read the 'tone' of the question, the motive, need and manner with which the question is asked. I also look at it , if it is for getting an answer or for some other reason. Then I answer it as best and sincerely as I can. Name does not matter really but it does if it is prima facie offending or negative sounding. It is more situational and a gut feeling than anything with in a fixed frame of mind. It is a free flow of information, understanding and spirit of answering.

Personally I don't read the names. They are not helpful to us at all.

I answer because I think I can help someone. I don't care who has asked the question. The important thing is the question itself, not who asks it.

If we all went around basing our answers off the person's name, then half the people on here would never get a response at all.

It doesn't matter who you are or what you are called. you could have the name "Hitler_Rules" and I would still answer a question, provided that it wasn't completely stupid or derrogatory to somebody.

The only time I ever bother looking at peoples names on here is if I'm trying to look them up using the search feature. Everywhere else it is irrelevant to what this site is about.

This one is a toss up , otto my man......
From time to time I will notice the name
not much in the way of getting to know the person---that--seeing that very seldom people use their own real name in this place or anywhere on the net for that fact !! There are those that stand out though and from time to time I will notice a particular individual that seems to excel in some way or the other and I'll log THAT name into memory so that I'm kinda looking for them as I do my thing here ------
And, yes---for everyone of the DINGOS in this place---you're going to run into some pretty sharp folks up in here----I've seen unbelivably brilliant answers-- as well as some that are so incredibly stupid as to call for a firing squad---kinda like a gambit if you know what I mean ------------------------

I read the question and answer as best I can. If I think good or bad I try to say....nothing to do with the person.....and we can all feel differently on a whole range of subjects that's what makes the world go round.

if the question is interesting or related to my research topic then yes, I check always the name of the person who asks. Sometimes I also look up at their profile to find out whether there are other questions they answered which might be interesting to me, as well. And very often, that's the case...so reading asker's name might be quite useful at times :-)

Yeah I look to see who asks all the questions incase I have answered their questions before, I answer questions if I think I can help, I never just put I dont know to question because thats answering just for points. I have never put anything nasty either if you haven't got anything nice to say dont say it.

I don't bother with names in real life either. I was amazed at Avery Brooks this weekend, remembering people's names in a crowd of a few hundred. I think it's a skill.
Of course, he IS The Emissary.

I don't look at the name & only answer if I can help or because I feel strongly about the topic. Some people on here are just plain ignoramuses so best to ignore them.
