If the Democrats have their way we will. This should not be considered as any particular slam on Democrats. It is statement based on their stated objectives, one of which is pulling the troops out of Iraq. As for the Republicans I would be lying if I didn't admit at least the possibility. This is based on history. When wars become to politically unmanageable this is often the result. My opinion is even if you don't agree with the war we must see it through to it's natural conclusion. We have destabilized a regime, a bad regime to be sure, but it did have some twisted stability. The only honorable course is finish the fight we have started. In the end this is what will be best for Iraqis and for our own world image.

With the exception of the British, what allies? The shia are only interested in us to advance their position in post U.S. occupation Iraq, and the Sunni's are only interested in the U.S. protecting them from the wave of shia that will engulf them. Strategically this is very different then Vietnam. There are two well armed sides in that country that hate each other. Both have regional backers (Iran for the Shia, Egypt/Saudi Arabia for the Sunni). Our presence in that country is merely keeping a lid on a civil war that's ready to blow. We would be wise to get out of the way and let them have at it.

In order to get full benefit of the war, US forces must leave Iraq immediately. Yes, one of the commentator is rite. Iran and Saudi Arabia are there to give help to their receptive groups in Iraq.

What America want is to destroy the Muslims, so let them kill each other.

But the real question is not the lives of Iraqis. What will be the fate of billions of barrels of Oil. After all as Bush termed it, US is addicted to OIL.

So, no. Mr. Sam cannot leave all that oil burn in flames.

Unlikely. A contingent force from each participating country will remain. What will be left behind is the multi-billions of U.S.taxpayers bucks worth of Military Hardware. Then a few months(AT MOST) after the contingencies leave the insurgents will by then retaken Iraq and freshly be renewed with American Technology.

Unlike Vietnam we have no friends to leave behind. When I was in the 'Nam I made many friends with the "natives" including my Mama-San. I was pleased to meet her family. Had dinner with her husband and children at their home. She knew the US would be leaving and she would be in danger for "collaboration" with the Americans. I wandered around the near-by village with no weapon and felt perfectly safe. I would hitch hike to the seaside on my days off. This is not the case in Iraq. I was a corpsman (91D-20) in the central highlands. The only thing wrong with Vietnam was the "green machine". Shame on us.

Well, as a Brit im astounded that my nation trusts you guys so much, as we're clearly the 'poor' relative in the relationship. Since when were our interests taken into account? Suez should have show us we couldn't trust the Americans in this 'Scared Relationship'

Personally, i can see the US army cutting and running, whatever anyone else thinks
