You can hear the same phrase in every country in the world,in the language of the country of course,and as it expresses an absolute truth it must have a common origin.

Many ways of putting this.

My favourites are:

"On those who take for granted their good fortune the gods will have their revenge." (Ancient Greek Hubris and Nemesis.)

"The whirligig of Time brings in his revenges." (Twelfth Night).
