1) Safety - Snell versus DOT. Lots of debate. The Snell has a harder protective profile but allows a sharper shpock. The DOT rating has a softer protective profile but beter dampening. Most professional racing organizations mandate a Snell rating, see inside of helmet, and this is what I buy.

2) Full face, unless you really don't need your jaw or teeth for future use. Face shield as well, bug on face or in eye at 60 MPH stings, and could cause distration and crash. Or, bee flys into your helmet and stings....not fun or safe.Go for best optics and clarity..cheap is tought to look through safely.

3) Fit - snug to the point of discomfort at first, it will soon fit to your head and face. Buy it loose.....loose protection and risk injury in an accident if it twists or tourques around.

Look up helmet reports in motorcycle magazine and hurt reports on DOT versus snell..then decide...be safe at all costs. Lastly...do not listen to idiots who say a helmet causes more injuries than they save...morons. Or, helmet cost does not make a better product...not true.

HJC is a good brand for a low cost. I have one and it is a good helmet. Also, under 100 bucks is not enough money. It will be over a 100 bucks but not over 200. try them on. it should fit snug so you grab the front and move side to side it does not move without your head moving. You want it to move your head with it. no slop.
