Dogs recognise by the smell
of the scent of the human body.
An odour secretes from the body
of human being, which helps the
dog to identify:
a) Owners of the house,
b) Unwanted persons
c) Even can predict that the
arrived person may be a thief,
even if he is present in front of
all the members of the family.
( I have seen this personally),
d) Because, the thief secretes
some other type of scent, as he
is under tension of fear.

It can recognise people by either scent or sight or both. The type of dogs that smells people to recognise them are called a Scent Hound. The other type is called a Sighthound.

Dogs have an extremely good memory and can recognise people and dogs by their smell. They can recognise people that they haven't seen in a long time and even people that they have only seen a couple of times.

dogs have a very strong sense of smell .everybody has a distinct odour.it depends on what the person eats ,wears(perfume),etc.so if a dog smells an odour it remembers it.dogs do not have a very strong sense of sight.that is why a dog smells you instead of looking first.

1> by their(dogs) smellingpower,

Maybe if you put a tag or nameplate around your neck so he wont have to remember your name too...

I cant answer for all dogs but my dog carries a picture of me around in his wallet.
