The government reckon they are going to stop some Eastern Europeans coming to Britain from next year. Are they really, or do they realise that Britons on the whole are fed up with immigrants coming to this island and are pretending to do something about it?

The future isn't going to sort itself out. Even if all those nasty brown people left the country would still go nowhere if we don't do anything about it. It is the duty of every person to work hard and do the best they can, if everyone does this then the country won't have any problems. But it must start with you, don't wait for the bloke down the road to make a change, you have to and everyone else will follow. Whinging never solved anything. Why blame immigrants? It was white, indigenous, well bred Thatcher who destroyed half this country; it was white, indigenous, well bred Blair who led us to war. Not that man who works at the corner shop. People hate immigrants because they're easier to spot in a crowd.

If our lot would get of their backsides and work, a lot less than are going to. 5 million odd on long term sick and unemployed, at least the immigrants will pay there collective Giros in tax.

People cannot help being ill or from time to time unemployed but we all know some who play on it because they are lazy gits They are the cause of immigration not the poor sods who come hear to work, when our own lot would rather watch Trisha on the box.
Just a quick retort to the answerer above of the 600,000 Poles who came hear less than 250 draw benefit's!

Since the Government doesn't know how many people who should have left are still in the UK and the great British public is paranoid about the introduction of ID cards and would probably resort to violent revolution at the suggestion that ID cards must then be carried at all times, then you might as well ask Mystic Meg for the answer to this question.

Too many

Just about everyone I know here in South Wales does low paid work, many of them are qualified to do much better but there aren't enough jobs to go round.

Immigrants make it worse.

My BF is a qualified mechanic and is struggling to get work in the motor trade. Many garages prefer to take on a Pole who'll do the job for £4 an hour - while a qualified mechanic like my BF is entitled to £8-£10, plus reasonable working conditions. So they won't employ locals when they can get cheap labour from immigrants.

A group of Poles recently came into our local waving their pay packets around and bragging how easy it was to get work because the British are "lazy" and how they could enjoy their wages because they don't pay council tax etc and how this country was just a way to make money for them.

They just about escaped with their facial features intact. The local (hard working and low paid) lads were NOT happy.

Tony Blair and his cronies should take note - the Poles will have left the country and wil not be voting in the next election. But the pissed off locals will be.

Ok, first of all, Eastern Europeans (Polish mainly) are not the same as immigrants, because they are EU citizens, so they are free to go there and work.

The new members, Bulgaria and Romania will be limited. As for other cases, it depends on the source country and how skilled the worker is.

The Government cannot do anything about it,its hogwash saying they can,and they know it!!! Saying they can is just to appease the public!! Countries that are members of the European Union, have undertaken to allow the FREE MOVEMENT of peoples! In other words no-one can stop you going to a country of their choice within the Union. Those that come here to work, will be issued with work permits. THIS is all the Government can do,limit the amount of permits. That said, those who come here and cannot get work permits, will probably stay, and get work on the black market. Who is going to stop them? This Governments track record on Immigration, and rounding up illegal workers is poor, to say the least! When we have judges employing illegals, what does that tell you???! This Government has no interest how the people feel about Immigration, they have their own hidden agenda. So we can expect yet another huge influx!!!!!

can you tell the difference between a polish and an english simply by looking at them , i can't.
i have no problem with our white cousins coming over as i can't tell the difference anyway from their physical appearance, mind you , more and more british people are now living in Spain , almost 2 millions .
when we joined the common market in the 70's ,we knew at the time the ultimate goal of the common market is for the free movement of people and goods without the limitation of artifical borders.

There will be lots more immigrants coming when Bulgaria and Romania join the EU. The government is saying that they will control them but how can they when they can't control them now. Bulgarians don't even need to pay for their visas now, so it suits them to come here and do as they please. What really annoys me is all those who are coming and claiming asylum. They get more money than British Families in need of benefits. On top of that they work illegally and try to change our way of life. I don't think the government realises how big of a problem this is!!! This is a question requiring lots of time to answer and I'm just getting angry trying to answer it.

Yes - we are fed up with immigrants - especially those who won't accept our way of life. If you don't like us - go somewhere else, or go back where you came from.

The Government has no idea how to control it. When there are rtiots on the streets they will have to do something.
